How Payment on Wyzant Works

Once you’ve sent a message to a tutor for the first time, you'll be required to add a valid payment method to your account in order to keep messaging and scheduling lessons.

To add or update your payment settings at any time, visit your "Payment Information" page located under the "My Account" drop-down menu from your Dashboard.

From there, you will enter your payment information. We accept credit, debit cards, and PayPal accounts. Please note that the address you provide on this page must match the address that is associated with your account at your bank or financial institution.

If you choose to use your PayPal account, you will be directed to the PayPal website.

If you're adding a new payment method to clear a balance, your method of payment will be charged within 1-2 hours after your account has been updated. You will receive a receipt via email once the balance has been cleared.

Add payment method now.

When will I be charged?

You’re only charged after your lesson is complete. There are no upfront payments or subscriptions required, and you only pay for the time you need.

What if I don’t like my tutor? Can I get a refund?

Your first hour with a new tutor is protected by Wyzant's Good Fit Guarantee. If you’re not satisfied with your first lesson, you don’t pay for the first hour. No questions asked.

How do I pay my tutor for a lesson?

After each lesson, your tutor will submit the start and end time of your lesson. You will then receive an email notifying you of the hours submitted so you can be sure your charges are accurate.

Once the lesson is submitted, there is a 1-2 hour delay before the charge is processed. If everything is correct, you will not need to take any action; the lesson will be billed to the payment method stipulated on your Payment Information page. You will receive a second email once your payment method has been charged for the submitted lesson.
