Some students are looking for same-day or immediate help online. Wyzant provides a way to support these students called Instant Book.
Students select a specific date and time, price range, and subject then provide additional details needed for the lesson. Wyzant notifies tutors who meet these requirements and have opted-in to offer urgent lessons. Tutors should review the request and claim the job if they are confident they can help the student. Requests are claimed by tutors on a first-come basis, so a speedy reply is important! The lesson date and time is not negotiable, so please do not claim a request if you are unavailable.
All Instant Book lessons take place via Wyzant’s online tool. Once you successfully claim an Instant Book request, we suggest you reach out to the student to introduce yourself and get any other information that will help you prepare for the lesson.
Due to the nature of these urgent requests, traditional cancellation policies cannot be enforced in the unlikely event that the student cancels or does not join the session. Reaching out to the student prior to the lesson greatly reduces the risk of a last-minute cancellation.
To be alerted of Instant Book requests:
- Make sure you’re certified and comfortable teaching online lessons via the Wyzant online tool (You must opt-in to appear in online search results in order to receive Instant Book requests).
- Under Settings in the main menu, select Profile Visibility.
- Check the box that says Send Me Instant Book Requests.
You can opt-out of Instant Book lessons at any time, and should you become available for this type of request, opt back in.
