How do I get the Wyzant tutor app?
The Wyzant smartphone app for tutors is free and available for both iOS and Android. Tutors will need an existing tutor account with Wyzant to access its features.
For iOS: Open the App Store and search for "Tutor on Wyzant." Once located, click on its listing to download and install the app.
Android: Open the Google Play store app and search for "Tutor on Wyzant." Once located, click on its listing to download and install the app.
Can I download the app to my tablet (iPad, etc.)?
While you can download and utilize our app on your tablet device, please note that the app is not optimized for use with tablets. If any function of the app is limited while using your tablet, using the mobile site from your tablet is another alternative!
Can I hold online lessons from within the app?
The Wyzant online tool is currently supported on desktops and laptops only. While lessons cannot be conducted on our mobile apps, you can still apply to online jobs, as well as message students, from your iOS or Android device!
Can I use the app to apply to jobs?
Of course! Downloading our free tutoring app for your smartphone allows you to apply to jobs on the go and connect with students more effectively.
iOS
- Tap the Job icon at the bottom right of the screen.
- Using the Filter option at the top right, select your preferences to find the best opportunities for you.
- Tap the job request to view more information about the student's inquiry, and use the space provided to type your application to the student.
- Select Next.
- Choose to add your subject qualifications relevant to the inquiry by using the toggle button.
- Select Next.
- Choose to add a student testimonial. If you do not have any testimonials yet, select Next.
- Review your application and tap Submit Application near the bottom of the screen.
Android
- Tap the three-bar menu icon in the top left corner of the screen. and select Jobs.
- Using the Filter option at the top right, select your preferences to find the best opportunities for you.
- Tap the job request to view more information about the student's inquiry, and use the space provided to type your application to the student.
- Select Next.
- From here, choose to add your subject qualifications relevant to the inquiry by using the toggle button.
- Select Next.
- Choose to add a student testimonial. If you do not have any testimonials yet, select Next.
- Review your application and tap Submit Application near the bottom of the screen.
How do I communicate with my students from the app?
Messaging via the Wyzant tutor app is easy and quick - just follow the steps outlined below. Don't forget: the app allows you to view and apply for jobs on the go. Check out which opportunities are available in your area by tapping the Jobs icon (iOS) or Browse Jobs (Android) on your app!
iOS
With the iOS version of the Wyzant mobile app for tutors, you may use the Messages page to send and receive messages from students. To access your messages on an iOS device:
- Log in to your Wyzant tutor account via the app.
- Tap the Messages icon located at the bottom of the screen.
- You'll find a messaging history with your current Wyzant students and can access older messages you've hidden, as well as compose a new message to a student.
Android
The Android version of our mobile app for tutors has a messaging system that mirrors the Messages page on your desktop tutor profile. You may send and receive messages from your students in the same manner as you would on the website. To access your messages on the Android app:
- Log in to your Wyzant tutor account via the app.
- Tap the three-bar icon at the top left of your Dashboard, and select Messages.
- You'll find a messaging history with your current Wyzant students and can view older messages you've Archived, as well as compose a new message to a student. If you'd like to sort Message threads, click the icon at the top right of the Messages screen, and you'll find options to sort by Most Recent Lesson/Message, and Alphabetically, and can choose to show threads you've previously chosen to hide.
How do I submit lessons via the app?
iOS
If your lesson was scheduled via the tutor app or in your Wyzant account, you will see a red number above the Lessons icon. This number indicates the number of scheduled lessons you need to submit.
- Tap on the Lessons icon from the menu at the bottom of the app screen to get to your Lessons screen. If your lesson was not scheduled through Wyzant, you may skip to Step 4, below, at this time.
- Tap on the Unsubmitted tab at the top of the Lessons screen, then tap on the lesson entry that you wish to submit. You may only submit one lesson at a time.
- On the next screen, you should see the lesson details that you submitted when you scheduled your lesson. Tap on the Edit and Submit Lesson button at the bottom of the screen to submit your lesson, or edit any details that may have changed since you scheduled it.
- Tap on the Binder icon located in the upper right corner of the Lessons page, then tap Submit a Completed Lesson to begin entering the relevant lesson details and then submit your lesson.
Android
- If your lesson was scheduled through your Wyzant account for the app, proceed to Step 2. If your lesson was not scheduled through your account or the app, skip to Step 4 below.
- You will automatically be prompted to submit your scheduled lessons right on the app's Dashboard screen when you log in, under the Lessons section of the Dashboard. If you have any scheduled lessons pending submission, you will see a number in this box. Simply tap on the box to start.
- On the next screen, you will see all of your unsubmitted lessons. Tap on the lesson entry that you wish to submit. You may only submit one lesson at a time. Next, you will be prompted to review the lesson details that you entered when you submitted your lesson. If any of the lesson details have changed, you may edit your lesson entry at this time, then tap Submit to continue and submit your lesson.
- If your lesson was not scheduled through your account or the app, tap on the Menu button located in the upper left corner of the app screen.
- Next, tap on Lessons from the menu, tap on the circular orange button in the bottom right corner of the screen to create a new entry, and then tap on Submit Lesson to begin entering relevant lesson details and submit your lesson.
How do I customize my push notification options?
Push notifications are useful because they alert you to new messages from students in real-time, which allows you to respond as quickly as possible.
iOS
- Find the Wyzant Tutor app in your device's Settings.
- Tap Notifications.
- Use the Notifications page to specify if you would like to receive notifications, and how you would like them to appear on your device.
Android
- Once logged into your account on the Android app, tap the three-bar menu in the top left-hand corner of the screen.
- Tap Settings on the menu that appears.
- Under Notifications, tap each event that you would like to receive an alert for. If you see an orange checkmark in the box next to the event, it means you will receive a notification if the event occurs. If the box is empty, you will not receive notifications for these events. You can change your preferences at any time.
Why should I use push notifications?
Push notifications are a great way to stay connected to the activity on your Wyzant account. With push notifications, you will receive important reminders and new messages without having to log in to your Wyzant account or personal email account.
The number of notifications on your account will display directly on the icon of your Wyzant app. Simply tap the icon to read your notifications and stay connected to your account activity in real-time.
