How do I create an account with the app?

 

First thing's first! Download and install the free Wyzant app on your smartphone from either the App Store (iOS) or the Google Play Store (Android). Then, follow a few simple steps to get started!

  1. Open the Wyzant app.
  2. Tap Get Started.
  3. Enter a subject and your ZIP code.
  4. Answer a few questions to help fine-tune your results based on your specific needs.
  5. Review a list of tutors.
  6. When you’ve located a tutor that you feel might be a good fit, tap Send Message.
  7. Type your message to the tutor to begin a conversation, and tap Send.
  8. Enter your information as prompted, then tap Sign Up!

 

Can I download the app to my tablet (iPad, etc.)?

 

While you can certainly download and utilize our app on your tablet device, please note that the app is not optimized for use with tablets. If any function of the app is limited while using your tablet, using the mobile site from your tablet is another alternative!

How can I add my payment information through the app?

 

Payment information can be easily added to your Wyzant student account using the app and should be added before scheduling lessons with tutors. 

iOS:

  1. Open the Wyzant app.
  2. Click on the Account icon located on the menu bar at the bottom of your screen.
  3. Select Payment Information.
  4. If you've previously added a credit card or Paypal account, they will be displayed. To add a form of payment, just click the "+" icon at the top right corner and enter the information prompted.

Android:

  1. Open the Wyzant app
  2. Tap the three-bar icon at the top left of your profile screen.
  3. Select Payment Information
  4. If you've previously added a credit card or Paypal account, they will be displayed. To add a form of payment, just tap Add Payment Method, then enter the information prompted.

How do I communicate with my tutor through the Wyzant app?

 

iOS:

  1. Tap the Messages icon at the bottom of your profile page; you will see a messaging history with all the tutors listed on Wyzant with whom you've previously communicated.
  2. Tap the name of the tutor you wish to message. You'll be directed to the conversation thread, and you'll see a text box near the bottom of the screen in which you can type a message to your tutor.
  3. Tap Send to send your message!

Android:

  1. Tap the Messages icon at the bottom of your profile page; you will find a messaging history with all the tutors listed on Wyzant with whom you've previously communicated.
  2. Tap the name of the tutor you wish to message. You'll be directed to the conversation thread, and you'll see a text box near the bottom of the screen in which you can type a message to your tutor.

How do I share an attachment with my tutor through the app?

 

Attaching a syllabus or examples of homework problems when messaging your tutor can be very helpful when seeking a tutor with expertise for a subject in which you need help. Please note that attachments sent to tutors should adhere to Wyzant's Academic Honesty Policy.

iOS:

  1. Tap the Messages icon on the bottom of the screen.
  2. Tap on the name of the tutor you would like to send your assignment to.
  3. Tap the "+" icon to the left of the text box, and select Take Photo, Choose from Library or Attach a File.
  4. You can now take a photo or attach a file if one already exists in your photo library. You'll need to grant access to the Wyzant app to use your pictures when prompted.

Android:

  1. Tap the Messages icon in the menu at the bottom of your profile page
  2. Tap the name of the tutor you wish to send your attachment to.
  3. Tap the paperclip icon.
  4. You can now take a photo or attach a file if one already exists in your Library. You'll need to grant access to the Wyzant app to use your pictures when prompted.

Can I have an online lesson in the app?

 

Wyzant's online tool is currently available only from the Wyzant website when accessed using a laptop or a desktop computer. While you may certainly use the Wyzant app to find and communicate with tutors who will conduct their lessons using the online tool, you should switch to either a laptop or a desktop computer when you have your lesson.

Why should I use push notifications?

 

Push notifications are a great way to stay connected to the activity on your Wyzant account. With push notifications, you will receive important reminders and new messages without having to log in to your Wyzant account or personal email account. The number of notifications on your account will display directly on the icon of your Wyzant app. Simply tap the icon to read your notifications and stay connected to your account activity in real-time!
